Dear Bernalillo County District 5 Neighbors,
Bernalillo County is committed to enhancing public spaces with meaningful, community-based art. We are excited to announce that five new medium-scale sculptures are planned for installation in 2026 as part of Phase III of the Outposts Public Art Project, with two locations along the Tramway Blvd multi-use trail near Manitoba and three along N14 in Cedar Crest.
In 2024, the County gathered community feedback on Phase III of the project, receiving more than 150 survey responses. This input helped guide the Bernalillo County Arts Board in finalizing the project scope and in selecting the final artworks, which are currently in fabrication by the five selected artists.
The overall goal of the Outposts Project is to install five outdoor sculptures in each district of the county, for a total of twenty-five sculptures. The sculptures will create a “public art trail” that celebrates the diversity of cultures and landscapes found in Bernalillo County. Phases I and II were installed on 2nd Street along the Alameda Drain Trail.
These new sculptures will help fulfill our mission to bring added vibrancy, creativity, and increased accessibility to the visual arts to all districts of the county. We look forward to celebrating these installations with you in 2026 and will share updates as the project progresses.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Kind regards,
Public Art Project Coordinator
