Dear Readers,

We continue to be unsuccessful in our search for a new editor for the GRIT. We are putting out a plea again in this issue. The current editor is stepping out of this position at the end of her term as a member of the Board of Directors in Feb 2026. She hopes to be able to mentor a new editor before she leaves. As of this writing, this will be last printed issue of The GRIT.  This will allow time and flexibility to review other options for editorship and formatting, which could include the continuation of the print edition.  Inquiries about the editor position may be sent to office@sandiahomeowners.org

Update: Bus Rental for December 3rd

Howdy Neighbors,

The SHHA has secured the services of a bus for the trip to

the BernCo building on Wednesday,  December 3rd. 

We will firm up the details next week, but plan on arriving at the SHHA Office

(12700 San Rafael Ave NE, Ste.3)  not later than 7:45 AM.

The bus will depart promptly at 8:00 AM.

The SHHA Nominating Committee is now accepting nominations and self-nominations for the Board of Directors in preparation for the Annual Meeting on February 21, 2026.

Deadline: December 21, 2025

Submit to: office@sandiahomeowners.org or drop off at the SHHA Office.

How to Apply

Please complete the required Statement of Interest form

Reminder: Nominations from the floor are not permitted at the Annual Meeting.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Strongly encouraged: at least 6 months of service on an SHHA committee.

  • Must be a lot owner and member of SHHA.

  • Must be willing and able to serve.

  • The Nominating Committee will verify eligibility.

Bus Transportation for December 3rd PNM Transmission Line Hearing

Sandia Heights HOA (SHHA) is exploring the option of renting a bus to provide transportation for residents who wish to attend the County Planning Commission hearing on PNM’s proposed substation location.

Hearing Details:
Date: Tuesday, December 3rd
Time: 9:00 AM
Location: Ken Sanchez Commission Chambers
415 Silver Ave SW

Because arranging transportation is not free for the HOA, we need an accurate headcount before deciding whether to move forward with renting a bus.

SHHA Office Holiday Closures

Plan Your Tram Ticket Purchases with SHHA Office Holiday Closures in Mind

Keep these SHHA office closure dates in mind when planning your Tram Ticket purchases.   

The SHHA office will be closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday, November 27 and November 28; and for the Christmas Holidays December 25 through January 1, 2026.

The SHHA office will be open January 2 from 9-12.

Please purchase tickets ahead of time, you can check availability at Tram Pass Availability | Sandia Heights Homeowners Association Tickets can only be purchased in the office on a first come first served basis, no reservations accepted.

And remember the regular office hours are Monday through Thursday: 9 AM to 4 PM; and Friday 9 AM to 12 noon.

The deadline for sending protest emails to Bernalillo County about PNM's proposed 90-foot transmission towers and power lines along Tramway Boulevard is fast approaching:
